Thank You Vets with Vettes and Corvette Owners
Thank you again all who participated for making this Veterans Day so special
for our visiting Wounded Warriors, their caregivers, our community and most of
all the Veterans located in our area. The Wounded Warriors completed Heroes Week
last evening with their farewell dinner. So many times they mentioned their
parade experience especially the ride with you in a Corvette. This year's parade
will be mostly likely the largest ever held and attended in Huntsville. The
weather most certainly had an influence but so did you. You made dreams come
true. Thank you.
A couple of things I'd like to update you on. As you probably noticed we had
fewer Wounded Warriors than we expected for the parade. Earlier that morning two
of our guests were transported to the hospital with physical difficulties and
illness. Additionally, another Marine became ill during the breakfast and did
not participate in the parade nor did his caregiver. Many of these kids appear
strong and able and others not so much. Thank you for understanding the
distribution confusion and being flexible to accommodate these special American
Patriots and their families.
I'd also like to apologize for any inconvenience that the drop off plan caused
when the large bus transporting the WW got pinned in by the parade. After not
seeing the bus at the drop off point, the decision was made to move to Butler HS
since we could not leave the WW without transport. Discussion in the parking lot
revealed that given the traffic difficulties associated with our numbers and
post parade bus transport this may indeed become our drop off point if the
parade route remains unchanged. Thank you for volunteering and stepping up to
transport the support team after the off-load.
I'd like to add special thanks to Bill & Renee, Ken & Carol, Richard & Becky,
Louise and Edd & Sheila for representing the club as escorts for the WW at the
Lake Guntersville Yacht Club cruise during Heroes Week. Another special memory
for all requiring folks to give up precious personal time to volunteer.
Finally, to our club Veterans. America called and you served. Many times
creating difficulties and sacrifices for your family, love ones and yourselves.
You put America's defense and freedom ahead of all else. Thank you. God Bless.
To our club - you continuously amaze Faye and i with your generosity and caring
especially when it comes to our Wounded Warriors. We are indeed proud of you,
our club and the special heart you have,
