June 2012 - Bill & Renee Binkley Renee' and I bought our 2002 Corvette in 2009, intending to just have fun cruising. After participating in the 2009 Veteran's Day parade with the other Vets with Vettes club members, our purpose became clear; we would focus on making the car a rolling tribute to veterans. While deployed to Iraq in 2010, I spent my few free hours thinking of an appropriate work of art with which to begin. Airbrush Inc. artist, Steve Ray, and I spent a month trading ideas and samples of art. The under-hood depiction of the Vietnam Wall and Three Soldiers is an original interpretation of our endeavor. After experiencing comments and questions about the art, I wanted to also memorialize a broader spectrum. Thus, the hood design was born. The car generates many questions from children; and, in telling the stories, it has become a memorial to "all who have served". May it be a reminder of the sacrifices of both our living and fallen heroes. By the way, the yellow is "until they all come home"!
